Exciting New Gallery Launches - 1st July 2019

01st July 2019
On 1st July 2019 I will have been living and working in the North East for 25 years.

In July 1994 I took up the role of NFU Mutual Branch Manager in Osborne Road, Jesmond covering the counties of Northumberland and Durham and took early retirement in 2014 as Regional Director responsible for the North East of England.

While my job roles changed several times over the last 25 years the one constant for me during that time has been my growing admiration and interest in Newcastle upon Tyne, its history, its architecture, its culture, its people and very occasionally its football team!.

So, to mark my 25 year anniversary here as an “exile” I have launched this exciting new gallery today - 1st July 2019 - which will look to capture all the qualities mentioned above and will also include some alternative views of this great City and its people.

Some of the purists out there will challenge the fact that some of the images actually cover Gateshead and are visible from the “North side” of the river Tyne. I respect this local “rivalry” but for me both sides of the Quayside contain some fantastic architecture so please don’t be too critical of the my photographic selections they are intended to showcase the city and its neighbouring areas.

In fact, the tour of Newcastle in the gallery begins with the sights and architecture off the Quayside and then moves on to the City’s history, its architecture, its culture, its skyline, its people and yes, at a time when Newcastle United find themselves in managerial turmoil once again the stadium and one of its greatest heroes will also feature!

The gallery contains around 88 images and I am sure that this will grow even further in the years ahead so please return the the gallery every 2/3 months to see the progress being made.

A special thank you to Neil Atkinson at Neil Atkinson Photography for his support and mentoring in recent years. Additionally, another special thank you to the other photographers and friends in the Moments in Time photography group that Neil Atkinson provides for us all so that we can further develop our creative and technical skills.

And finally, a BIG thank you to all of the people I have met and enjoyed the company of over the last 25 years, your friendship, generosity and hospitality has meant a great deal to me and here’s to many more years to come here in the North East!
