I think I settled into it as time went on and became grateful for being able to slow down and reconnect with

Whilst the pandemic has been a nuisance, stopping us doing things we’d like to do, and stopping us seeing close family and friends, it has also afforded us the opportunity to spend more time together in our small family unit.
The kids had to stay home for a significant amount of time, which was very disruptive to their education and we were gladthey were able to return to some relative normality when the new school year started in September.
2020 was also the year in which Sebastian was making his racing debut in kart competitions in the North East and further afield, and the pandemic has severely limited the amount of time he has been able to practice and compete. There has been plenty of time to tinker with the kart though, which has been useful. Seb is looking forward to a busy race calendar in 2021 all being well!

My experience through Covid has been so different to Mark’s. My work in Corporate Banking meant we have truly never been busier supporting businesses and people at such a hard and unprecedented time and trying to keep up with Government Schemes etc. was quite some work.
Working from home full time has its challenges in terms of being able to switch off or finish work but moving then renovating a house has certainly proved easier with being around all the time! Things will definitely be different and permanently in my view but I am very much enjoying the easing of restrictions too be able to see friends and family properly again.

For me the pandemic was the first time in a very long time where I just stopped. Working in hospitality means long hours, late nights and hard shifts so to find myself stuck in the house suddenly unable to get out and do things was strange and a fairly hard adjustment at first. It did however give me the time to finally do some work and decorate where we lived at the time so when the house we had looked at for so long came on the market we were able to sort things very quickly being ready to sell ours - without lockdown we wouldn’t have been able to do this.
Work is back open and vaccines are in full swing so I’m hopeful that this is the way back to
normality.

Gill Smith first picked up a bat on the beach at Sandsend, near
Whitby in 1975 - playing cricket with her Dad and the family dog,
Cindy. Little did she know that ten years later she would be
representing Yorkshire Women in the County Championships,
followed by six seasons with Middlesex.
In 1986, Gill achieved a life long dream when she was selected to
play for England, making her debut in a Test and One Day
International series against India. Over the next seven years, her left-
arm medium pace bowling took her around the world, competing at
the highest level of the women’s game. She was fortunate to play in
two World Cup Finals, including the unforgettable 1993 victory at
Lord’s.
Remarkably, Gill still holds the world record for the best One Day
International bowling average - though as she modestly says, “the
game has change a bit since then.”
Cricket gave Gill more than just opportunities on the field; it gave
her a lifetime of memories and friendships. She remains deeply
grateful for the experiences, the people, and the sense of belonging
the game has brought her.
Neil Brinsdon took the opportunity in 2014 to pursue his passion for
photography after a successful career in the financial services
industry. A keen sportsman at school he captained the school cricket
team for a while before his love for football took him into coaching
football at a grassroots level.
Neil’s interest in cricket continued at a distance with a visit to Trent
Bridge during the famous 1981 Ashes series, and, since then he has
been an armchair viewer of cricket in all its forms.
Neil’s passion for photography has developed into telling the stories
of remarkable people in both images and words, a unique and
heartwarming format.

I am a primary school teacher and was at work teaching key worker children throughout the pandemic. During lockdown, I had up to half my usual class in school. The most difficult part was jugging in school and remote learning provision. The children were all amazing and thank goodness we are all in good health.

Apart from feeling anxious about family members, homeschooling, bad hair and a lack of things to look forward to, our family’s stayed safe and well during lockdown. We had everything we needed, Zoom calls with loved ones, jo wicks, an outdoor space for fresh air and we all kept our jobs. We are grateful for that and realise how lucky we are.

It caught me unawares.
One minute I was in church all appeared normal then suddenly we were told to lock down but not to worry as it would not be long.
Suddenly the church appeared shut on the outside but suddenly it became a hive of activity seeking to help those who were isolating, those who need free school meals delivering those who need watching over.
I was exhausted, It all felt too much.
The new skills needed, technology to start virtual services, meetings online!
Life felt all upside down and chaotic but out of the chaos there slowly came new life, new energy as a church to start finding new ways of being church.
More people started to engage and distant feelings of hope started to appear, I felt more in control, as the lockdown persisted my resilience started to grow, hope started to shine.
For me faith has been the lamp which has shone on the path before me in these difficult times and I have been truly grateful.

My Changing Life
Pre Covid: Only teenagers chatted to people via electronic devices using video and earphones.
During Covid: I have become one of them.
Pre Covid: The daily grind of commuting to work and working hard.
During Covid: Rolling out of bed and getting straight into the office and working even harder, I do emergency planning!
Pre Covid: Walking the neighbourhood and only meeting dog walkers.
During Covid: Loads of folks out with no dogs taking exercise. Who are these people and who do they think they are
clogging up our streets!!!
Pre Covid: DIY jobs outstanding.
During Covid: Tick, I can even get the car in the garage.

In the beginning of lockdown it was quite enjoyable for me: Quality time with 2 teenage children, no commute to work and no pressure to socialise! Then reality bit, holidays cancelled, no extended family or friend visits and an inability to plan anything not to mention masks!
I now can not wait to get back to normal. Hurry up vaccine! But, please can I continue to work from home?

A lone tree on the right and bunkers on the left of the fairway narrow the landing area for your drive on this closing hole.
Hit the fairway and you will get some good run significantly reducing the length of your approach shot to the green.
A hearty welcome awaits in the clubhouse.

Avoid the fairway bunkers and you'll be well placed for a straight shot in the green.
The green is a sun trap in the summer but beware the prevailing wind as you approach this hole.
